The Indian government has decided to extend its flagship export incentive scheme, RoDTEP (Remission of Duties and Taxes on Export Products), until March 2026. Originally set to expire on September 30, this extension responds to calls from exporters seeking continued financial support amid rising global trade pressures. 

Under RoDTEP, exporters are reimbursed for various taxes, duties, and levies that are not refunded by any other scheme. The scheme currently covers more than 10,000 products for textile and other industries, offering rebates ranging between 1% and 4% of the product’s value.

Exporters had urged this extension, especially after the U.S. doubled tariffs on Indian goods, affecting textile and other sectors. The move aims to support Indian exporters in staying competitive and managing cost pressures due to higher global duty barriers.

This extension gives exporters a longer period of policy certainty, encouraging trade and investment decisions. It also underscores the government’s effort to stabilize export dynamics and protect domestic industries against international tariff shocks.
